State checks mine tax discrepancies

MINING remains the mainstay of the country’s economy, attracting an eagle’s eye in revenue, its contribution to communities and general operations.
As a result the Government launched Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in July 2008 to promote accountability, transparency and good governance.
The initiative offers an opportunity to stakeholders and the public at large to know mining companies’ contribution to national coffers.
